Innovation Plan Outline

Brief Summary of Innovation Plan:

Create an Academic Learning Network (ALN) with a virtual presence for academic work and social interaction.

Academic Goals:

Teach students how to create an ALN of their peers through the use of closed social media groups and face-to-face interactions outside of a traditional classroom setting.

Teach students how to create an ePortfolio of work throughout their high school years.

Target Student Group:

Current sixth grade students.

The plan will be prepared to launch when the group enters eighth grade, which is the first year that the students can receive academic credit towards their high school graduation.

Preparing:

*Platforms

Social Media Closed Group

Ex: Facebook Messenger, Marco Polo, etc.

Website Creation Site

Ex: Wix, Weebly, Ning, etc.

Round Table Discussions

Gathering for round table discussions on academic topics, ePortfolio

development, and field trip planning. Round table discussions will

be held with a snack or meal outside of the traditional classroom.

*Devices

Students will use their personal computer or laptop

Students will use their personal cell phone

*Grading

Students will be graded for participation only for the ePortfolio development and

participation in the round table discussions.

Students will be graded on individual and group assignments which will be submitted for

grading through a learning management system. Grading will be based upon rubric

criteria. Some assignments will be posted on the students’ ePortfolio.

*Informational Meeting

Prepare information for parent and student informational meeting.

Answer any questions or concerns from parents or students.

Implementation Timeline:

2018-2019:

Teacher (me) will continue to learn about various platforms for ePortfolio development and will continue to develop personal ePortfolio.

Teacher will continue to research various closed group social media platforms.

Teacher will continue to research and experiment with various learning management systems.

May 2019:

Informational meeting with parents and students.

September 2019:

Launch

Continuous Improvement:

Throughout the process, the teacher and student will have round table discussions. Those round table discussions will be a time to discuss and reflect. Changes will be made if necessary.

Teacher will meet with parents on a regular basis to discuss and reflect upon the process. Changes will be made if necessary.
