Influencer Model

The Influencer Model is about how to create a change using the six sources of influence found in the book Influencer by Joseph Grenny, Kerry Patterson, David Maxfield, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler. The authors state that you need to aim for at least four sources of influence to see a change, but you will be more successful if you can hit all six.

I must admit that I attempted this influencer model before. Though the previous attempt was not exactly right, it was an opportunity to try and experiment. Overall, I would say that the previous attempt was successful.

After frustrations and conversations, I have applied the influencer model to another issue that my school is having....growth. I also felt that I needed to be more specific and present the information as I would if I were presenting to the board of directors. It helped me to focus on the terminology and goals. So without further ado......

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Board:

Thank you for joining me today to discuss the progress and growth of De Beau Microschool. As you know, the mission of De Beau Microschool is to teach students at a student-set pace to mastery level of national learning standards. The positive problem that we are now facing is that student enrollment is up for the 2018-19 academic year. The increase in enrollment is creating the need for additional staff to deliver on the mission of the school.

Our goal is to prepare and equip De Beau Microschool staff to personalize learning for each student. Our staff must engage in the following three vital behaviors to accomplish that goal:

1. Staff must engage and develop a relationship with the learner.

2. Staff must identify the needs and gaps of the learner.

3. Staff must develop a personalized learning plan for the learner.

The lead teacher will help to ensure that the vital behaviors are acted upon by harnessing the six sources of influence as described in the book Influencer: The new Science of Leading Change by Grenny, et. all. Below you will find a spreadsheet explaining the six sources of influence and the actions that will be taken under that particular influence category.

By harnessing the six sources of influence, we will be certain that new staff will understand and internalize the mission of De Beau Microschool. As a result, execution of the mission will be guaranteed.
